TeacherMade

About the Company
TeacherMade, headquartered in Fernandina Beach, Florida, was co-founded by Laura Bresko, an edtech entrepreneur, in September 2020. The company is structured as a SaaS (Software as a Service) platform focused on transforming paper-based classroom materials into interactive, digital formats. Teachers use the platform to create practice activities, and students benefit from interactive, real-time feedback on their work. Despite its young age, TeacherMade has gained a solid foothold in the edtech market, employing 12 people and serving educators and students.
Idea Behind Company
The concept for TeacherMade emerged from Laura's hands-on experience teaching in a 4th-grade classroom, where she observed limited use of technology for actual instructional purposes. At that time, educational tools mostly served as supplementary or reward-based activities. She saw an opportunity to leverage digital technology to bring about data-driven instruction and personalized learning. Additionally, Laura’s extensive background in educational technology made her attuned to the potential impact of digitized materials, especially for grading and feedback.
Creating the Company
Initially, Laura and her partner invested time in thorough market research to assess the need for their product. They evaluated existing SaaS products in classrooms, finding no direct competitors but identifying adjacent platforms with some similar features. With COVID-19 pushing schools toward remote learning, the need for TeacherMade’s solution became more evident. The urgency to support remote teaching led to rapid development, and the platform was designed and prototyped over a few months in 2020, allowing teachers to transition seamlessly to digital assignments.
Launching the Business
TeacherMade was launched in September 2020, during a time when demand for digital learning solutions was exceptionally high. Initially, the founders reached out to a well-known edtech influencer, which helped them rapidly gain visibility within the educator community. The platform saw explosive growth in its first few months, reaching over 100,000 users by Christmas 2020. To assist teachers in transitioning smoothly, they offered the product for free for the entire school year. By July 2021, they launched the PRO version, enabling revenue generation through a freemium model.
Earnings
With steady growth in user adoption and revenue, TeacherMade reached a point where it was bringing in approximately $75,000 per month, totaling around $900K annually. Their main source of income is the PRO subscription model, introduced in 2021. As they continue refining their product and marketing strategies, SEO has become their primary driver of organic traffic. TeacherMade’s financial model is designed to sustain product improvements and handle increased operational costs as the platform scales, aiming for consistent profitability moving forward.
