Mbrella Films

About the Company
Mbrella Films, founded by Joshua Dixon, is a production company based in Thailand that focuses on creating corporate videos, commercials, and feature films. The company started small but has grown to operate in multiple countries, providing cost-effective solutions for clients globally. Mbrella Films is known for its strong network of clients, clear communication, and transparent budgeting, which has helped it build a solid reputation in the industry.
Idea Behind Company
Joshua Dixon's journey into film production began unexpectedly while he was pursuing his passion for music in a rock band. His first experience shooting a music video sparked his interest in filmmaking, leading him to work in ad agencies and eventually in movie production in Vietnam. Inspired by the abundance of digital ads in Bangkok, Dixon saw an opportunity to create a production house that could cater to the growing demand for high-quality video content in Thailand and beyond.
Creating the Company
Starting Mbrella Films involved a mix of passion, experience, and strategic planning. Initially, Dixon partnered with a few individuals to form Wind Up Films, which provided him with the financial cushion needed to establish a proper management structure and legal foundation for Mbrella Films. The company’s early days were focused on building a strong client base through referrals, reviews, and word-of-mouth, which eventually led to working with big names like Disney.
Launching the Business
The official launch of Mbrella Films was made possible by the initial investment from shareholders, which allowed Dixon to focus on setting up the company properly in Asia. A key strategy in attracting and retaining customers has been clear communication, fast responses, and choosing the right clients who align with the company’s values. The company also had to pivot during the COVID-19 pandemic, shifting to remote production, which proved successful and is still part of their operations today.
Earnings
Mbrella Films has seen consistent growth, doubling its revenue every year since its inception. The company now generates approximately $250K per month and is on track to further increase its revenue by 30% with the addition of a new post-production house. Future plans include expanding the team to 80 full-time employees and developing a division focused on producing original films with the company's intellectual property.
