Idea Behind Company
Rahman’s marketing experience at a fintech company exposed him to the pivotal role email plays in business growth. Observing the potential of Google’s AMP technology, he realized interactive emails could revolutionize email marketing. Traditional HTML emails lacked the functionality to perform actions within the email itself, creating a gap in the market.
Rahman envisioned AMP emails as a game-changer, providing customers with seamless experiences by enabling actions like form submissions within the email. This sparked the idea of building a platform to make AMP email creation accessible for non-technical marketers. Despite the initial challenges of learning AMP intricacies and validating the concept, Rahman pursued the vision of Mailmodo as a comprehensive solution.
Creating the Company
To develop Mailmodo, Rahman partnered with his CTO, Devyesh, and consulted with email marketing experts to refine their concept. Initial efforts involved manually coding AMP emails to demonstrate their effectiveness to pilot users. The team conducted tests with clients like Razorpay, proving that interactive AMP emails tripled conversion rates compared to standard HTML emails.
Following these validations, the team built a minimum viable product (MVP) incorporating key features like bulk email sending, automation, and no-code AMP email creation. By October 2020, the MVP was complete, and Mailmodo launched publicly in January 2021. The team continuously iterated on their product roadmap, integrating customer feedback and enhancing usability.
Launching the Business
Mailmodo’s public launch focused on maximizing visibility among marketers and early adopters. The company leveraged platforms like Product Hunt, gaining exposure and valuable user feedback. Referrals from early adopters and collaborations with influencers further accelerated its reach.
Content marketing and search engine optimization (SEO) were prioritized for long-term growth, targeting potential customers with educational content about AMP’s benefits. The team actively engaged in forums, podcasts, and networking events to build awareness. A strong focus on customer success helped the company retain users and refine its product.
Earnings
Mailmodo achieved $100,000 ARR within five months of its launch, with the goal of reaching $1 million ARR and onboarding 5,000 customers by the end of 2021.
